Associate Membership is intended for rising talent and emerging investment professionals. To be eligible for Associate Membership, applicants must be a current or past participant in a CFA Institute educational product, including the CFA Program. Key Requirements
  • Work in or support investment decision-making
  • Hold Regular Membership (required for CFA/CIPM)
  • Adhere to CFA ethical and professional standards
  • Pay annual membership dues (with some eligibility-based reductions)
  • Pass all 3 CFA exams
  • Minimum 4,000 hours of relevant work experience within a minimum of 36 months
  • Professional references (2-3)
  • Ongoing ethics commitment and annual membership maintenance
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Pass Level I (or equivalent exam)

CFA Institute and CFA Society Toronto each have an Associate Membership class. You do not need to be an Associate Member of CFA Institute to become an Associate Member of CFA Society Toronto. Eligible individuals may choose to join one, the other, or both, depending on the kind of membership experience they want. This class is governed by ethics and conduct expectations that include completion of the ethics requirement or applicable exemption, compliance with the Code and Standards, annual professional conduct attestation, and oversight by CFA Institute Professional Conduct.
