Volunteers of our (10) programming and (5) non-programming committees make up the very backbone of the services we provide to our members and the investment community at large. Their commitment is usually a year long or longer, and from time-to-time a committee may send out a ‘Call for Volunteers’ to join their efforts. Please visit our Volunteer page under Membership to learn more about our volunteering opportunities.
CFA Society Toronto is a not-for-profit organization and relies heavily on support from committee volunteers to help bring together the content and speakers for professional development events. However, there are no volunteer or part-time positions currently available to help execute events.
Yes. CFA Program candidates are a core audience for Associate Membership. The membership is specifically being positioned as an earlier on-ramp to the Society for Candidates and emerging professionals.
No. CFA Society Toronto and CFA Institute each have their own Associate Membership class. Eligible individuals may join one, the other, or both.
The current price for CFA Society Toronto Associate Membership is USD $85.
Associate Membership is intended to renew on a rolling basis, which means your renewal date is one year from the date you join.
All other Membership types renew annually on July 1st.
Benefits are designed around the needs of Candidates and emerging professionals and include Candidate-focused programming such as mentoring, AMA-style events, Candidate Connect programming, and planned bursary support, along with broader access to the Society community.
Some benefits will launch and expand over time as the program matures. The overall goal is to build a growing and increasingly valuable Associate Member experience, with benefits that support Candidates academically, professionally, and financially.
There are three different types of membership you can obtain with CFA Society Toronto, visit How to Join to see descriptions of each, so you can determine which is the right one for you.
You can add Charterholder or Professional Society membership online through your CFA Institute account. Visit your account and under the Membership section select the “Manage Member and Society Applications” link. This page allows you to create and submit a new Charterholder or Professional application. The Society reviews your Charterholder or Professional application within 30 days, and will notify you by email when they finish. At that time, you can return to your account to activate your new membership by paying member dues to the Society. Please note that Society dues are non-transferable and non-refundable.
CFA Institute is responsible for exam registration and fees. Please visit CFA Institute’s website.
Access those details here.
CFA Society Toronto does not issue the T2202 tax receipt for the CFA Exams as they are administered through CFA Institute. CFA Institute is based out of Charlottesville, USA and as US company they cannot issue the T2202. You can try to claim your exam registration fees and submit through your taxes to the CRA but there is no guarantee that they will accept it.

CFA Society Toronto’s Mentorship Program applications open in September annually. Please see the Mentorship page for further information.
Protégés must be members of CFA Society Toronto who have not previously participated in the program. They cannot be full-time undergraduate students. Protégés must have at least two (2) years of qualified work experience.
Mentors must be members of CFA Society Toronto. Mentors generally start at 8+ years’ experience; eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis.
The Mentorship Program is not designed to be used as a job search opportunity by Protégés or a recruiting platform by Mentors. Mentors are encouraged to provide career guidance, recommend courses and workshops, and facilitate professional introductions where appropriate to assist their Protégé’s career development.
Mentors and Protégés will be matched by the CFA Society Toronto Mentorship Committee through a formal matching process based on the applications received. Special considerations will be given to factors such as work experience and career objectives. However, a specific Mentor cannot be requested by a Protégé or vice versa.
The goal of the CFA Society Toronto Mentorship Committee is to facilitate one-to-one mentoring relationships. There may be unique cases where a Mentor is matched with more than one Protégé. In all cases, the confidentiality between each pairing will be maintained and the quality of the mentoring provided will be at the highest level possible.
While face-to-face meetings are strongly encouraged, the Mentorship Committee understands that Mentor and Protégé schedules may not allow every meeting to occur in person.
There are 2 – 3 social / networking events hosted for program participants during the year that are designed to bring everyone together to connect and share best practices.
