Undergraduate Finance & Economics Awards

Are you a third- or fourth-year finance or economics student with the drive to stand out?

Each year, CFA Society Toronto awards up to $6,000 in prizes to outstanding Ontario undergrads — no prior CFA knowledge required! Just bring your academic record, your story, and your ambition.

Who can apply

Currently enrolled in a third- or fourth-year finance or economics program at an Ontario university or college
Minimum 3.0 GPA (or equivalent)
Able to submit an application in English
Have not previously won this award
Enrolled in the CFA Program? That's a bonus, but it's not required

What to submit

Completed application form
Current resume highlighting finance experience and extracurriculars
Unofficial transcript — years 1–2 for third-year applicants; years 1–3 for fourth-year applicants
(NEW!) Written or video essay on why you should be selected and how the award will support your growth
- Written: 500 words
- Video: 3 minutes

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all materials are submitted before the deadline.

How you'll be evaluated

Essay and motivation — 30%
Relevant work and volunteer experience — 20%
Quality of written/video communication — 20%
Academic standing — 15%
Interest in the CFA Program — 15%

Applications are reviewed by a panel of industry professionals selected by CFA Society Toronto. Your essay carries the most weight — use it to make a genuine, compelling case for yourself.
