CFA Society Toronto's secondary school programs give students the knowledge, connections, and confidence to make informed decisions about a career in finance — before they ever set foot on campus.
A career in finance can feel distant or hard to navigate if you don’t know where to start. CFA Society Toronto’s secondary school initiatives are designed to change that. Through classroom visits, career events, and free resources, we connect Ontario high school students with real finance professionals and give them the tools to understand their options so that when the time comes to choose a university program or career path, they can do it with confidence.

The Decisions You Make Now Shape the Career You’ll Have Later
Choosing the right university program, understanding what different finance careers actually look like, and knowing what credentials matter — these aren’t things most high school students have easy access to. We think that’s a problem worth solving. The earlier students get exposure to the finance world, the better equipped they are to make choices that set them up for long-term success.
- Career Clarity: We help students explore the full range of roles, from portfolio management and investment banking to wealth advising and fintech, so they can find where their strengths and interests fit.
- Connections to the Industry: Through CareerFest events and classroom visits, students get direct access to CFA charterholders working across Bay Street and beyond — honest conversations about what the job is really like and how to get there.
- Resources to Get Ahead: From guides on what to study in university to explainers on the CFA designation, our free resources help students arrive at university already a step ahead of the curve.
- Students (Grades 9–12): Explore finance careers, hear from working professionals, and get a clear picture of the paths available to you after graduation.
- Teachers and Faculty: Access curriculum-aligned financial literacy resources, or request a CFA charterholder to visit your class and bring the finance world into your classroom.
- Guidance Counselors: Help your students make more informed post-secondary decisions with career guides, university pathway information, and access to our professional network.
CFA Society Toronto believes that a career in finance shouldn’t only be visible to students who already have connections to the industry. Our secondary school initiatives are about levelling the playing field and giving every student in Ontario, regardless of background or school, a genuine opportunity to discover whether finance is the right path for them. We’re building a more diverse, more informed, and more prepared next generation of finance professionals. And it starts here.
