WHILE MANY OF US WILL BE HAPPY to see the tail end of 2020, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride when I reflect on what our Society was able to accomplish this year, despite so many obstacles.
We all have now been through three seasons of physical distancing, and will remember 2020 as a year where our members, volunteers, and staff at CFA Society Toronto rose together to meet unprecedented challenges as a community. Overall, we were able to deliver and create many new member services online.
Our traditional face-to-face programming moved online, offering a variety of virtual professional development events, conferences, networking opportunities, and webinars to our members and industry professionals. Since the middle of March 2020, Society staff and our hard-working volunteers have provided dozens of virtual learning opportunities, and are in the midst of planning a continued stream of thoughtful, timely, and relevant programming into 2021.
In May, we celebrated the launch of a brand-new online platform for our quarterly publication, The Analyst. This new platform provides access to current and past issues of The Analyst, and allows readers to take a deeper dive into topics of interest and learn about growing trends and issues within the finance community. We hope that you’ve had the chance to explore the many benefits of this important resource.
In July, CFA Society Toronto’s mentorship committee expanded mentorship and networking opportunities through the successful launch of the Knowledge Network Directory, the production of a wide variety of “Day In the Life Of” pieces, and the creation of our new “Ask Us Anything” series—and put all of it into a thoughtful online member services offering.
As we close off this year, I am incredibly grateful for the hard work of our Society team of staff and volunteers in building our online suite of member services and community at CFA Society Toronto, all from their home offices and kitchen tables, amidst a global pandemic.
I would like to close off by wishing you and your family a healthy and safe holiday season, and a very prosperous 2021.
