Leadership Message

During the past fiscal year, the Americas Region team at CFA Institute has been focused on delivering value to the region’s 87,500 members and 89 societies, including CFA Society Toronto. We hope you’re enjoying your membership benefits in both CFA Institute and CFA Society Toronto. Together, we want to improve the investment profession for the ultimate benefit of society.

Since its inception in 2015, the Americas team has been acquiring knowledge about the needs of the region’s members, societies, and institutions. The team helps to inform the strategy, activities, and resources we deploy in the region to serve these important stakeholders. We believe we’ve developed solid momentum that will help us to create more benefits for our societies and members in the coming year.

Toronto—given it has the largest number of charterholders of any society in the world, and high penetration among the top asset managers in Canada—is a priority market for CFA Institute. We work closely with CFA Society Toronto and value our partnership as we promote investor trust and confidence in the profession.

CFA Society Toronto is your local member organization as well as your professional body, delivering quality educational, career, and networking programming to you and the investment management profession. It’s also a leading voice on issues important to the future of the industry, including ground-breaking initiatives addressing diversity and ethics in the industry. This year’s third annual CFA Institute Alpha and Gender Diversity Conference is just one example of how we jointly partner to help deliver relevant programs in your community. We encourage you to continue to rely on the multitude of benefits and ongoing support provided by the society’s leadership team, staff, and volunteers.

We’re excited to start the next fiscal year with CFA Societies Canada in place. CFA Institute will provide support to this national entity as it works to represent Canada’s 12 societies. The collective strength of this national organization will help each society and its members deliver on our mission to promote a more ethical and transparent industry that puts investors first. This new organization will take a leading role in national advocacy efforts in the interests of Canadian members and investors by engaging with both provincial and national policy-makers. We’re proud to be a part of this effort. Many thanks go to Sue Lemon, Dan Lavallee, and Norma Summers for their tireless work in support of this initiative.

Serving our societies and members around the world is what matters most to us at CFA Institute. We welcome your comments and feedback on how we can serve you better as you progress in your career and as we work together to improve our profession.
