THE END OF ANOTHER YEAR often has us reflecting on past memories, showing gratitude, and then planning our next moves—be they personal or professional. As we enter the 2020s, embarking upon a new decade, we take great pride in the past success of the collaboration of our staff, members, and hard-working volunteers who all strive to achieve our mission and vision together.
This September, CFA Society Toronto members were able to hold their heads up high and pass on congratulations as our past president and Board member, Marg Franklin, took office as CFA Institute’s president and CEO.
Then, in November, Marg returned to her Toronto roots to moderate our 62nd Annual Investment Dinner. She engaged a sold-out crowd of more than 850 attendees with a candid and thought-provoking fireside chat with the legendary Gerry Schwartz of Onex Corp.
Looking forward, there’ll be a lot to celebrate in 2020, beginning with our CFA Charter Recognition Event on Feb. 27 for the Class of 2019. This year, we’ll be welcoming president and CEO of Purpose Investments, Som Seif, CFA. Seif will be sharing his experiences, and how his charter has helped to shape his very successful career as a well-respected industry leader, innovator, and entrepreneur.
CFA Society Toronto continues to work with CFA Institute in launching local efforts for the spring global branding campaign, targeting a HNWI (high-net-worth individual) audience. This year’s campaign is set to make waves on the international stage, as well as in the GTA.
Finally, 2020 marks another exciting development here at CFA Society Toronto. As part of our continuing efforts to provide convenient and relevant information to our members, our newly digitalized quarterly publication, The Analyst, will be launching on a brand new platform this spring! Stay tuned for more details.
As we look forward, we’re excited about what the next decade is going to bring!
The Management Office at CFA Society Toronto would like to extend a sincere thank you to our members and dedicated volunteers. And we wish you and your loved ones a fun, healthy, and safe holiday season, and a prosperous new year.
