THE COMING OF WINTER brings us closer to the end of 2017 and the beginning of a new year. Most of us take this time to reflect on our past achievements and set new resolutions to better ourselves both personally and professionally. At CFA Society Toronto, we’re dedicated to supporting our members in achieving their professional career goals. As such, we’ve taken the lessons learned in 2017 as benchmarks for setting out plans to further enhance member services. In the new year, we’ll be strengthening resources that will better assist you in advancing your career.
In order to meet our members’ professional and continuing education requirements, we’ve made changes to our programming committees to ensure topics and content are timely and relevant, and reflect important trends within the investment industry. This past September, we launched the new volunteer year with a new programming committee structure, redefining the scope of each of the committees through this process. Following are the new committees and their roles:
CORPORATE & GOVERNMENT RELATIONS focuses on developing high-quality outreach initiatives that will extend and enhance the existing brand, the profile and awareness of the CFA charter, and CFA Society Toronto with important external groups.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT focuses on developing high-quality programs that will enhance the soft and technical skill sets that are relevant for the benefit and progression of CFA Society Toronto members at various career stages.
CORPORATE FINANCE focuses on developing high-quality programs that incorporate, but are not limited to, equity, fixed income, risk management, alternative investments, and/or portfolio management perspectives that are relevant for the benefit and progression of corporate finance end-users in the industry.
INSTITUTIONAL ASSET MANAGEMENT focuses on developing high-quality programs that incorporate, but are not limited to, equity, fixed income, risk management, alternative investments, and/or portfolio management perspectives that are relevant for the benefit and progression of institutional asset management end-users in the industry.
PRIVATE WEALTH MANAGEMENT focuses on developing high-quality programs that incorporate, but are not limited to, equity, fixed income, risk management, alternative investments, and/or portfolio management perspectives that are relevant for the benefit and progression of private wealth management end-users in the industry.
This year also marked the 10-year anniversary of our Mentorship Program. This program has successfully matched more than 300 mentor and protégé pairings since 2007. The program aims to pass on the knowledge and experiences of senior charterholders to the future generation of our investment community and also offers an opportunity for participants to develop stronger leadership skills and networking opportunities.
CFA Society Toronto extends best wishes to you and your family during the holiday season as you enjoy a bit of downtime before tackling a new year and new challenges. We look forward to connecting with you in 2018!
