From the Desk of the CEO

AS WE APPROACH THE END OF THE SUMMER SEASON, I hope you enjoyed time on some outdoor patios and took advantage of the sunny holidays. Before we introduce you to the exciting fall lineup, let’s take a step back and welcome our new Board members who will be assisting charterholders into the next stage of their personal and professional lives.

We are pleased to welcome Alain Bergeron (Board Member at Large), Vadim Gracie (Member Services), Pamela Steer ( Secretary Treasurer) and Marcus Turner ( Programming Vice-Chair) to the Board and look forward to their insight and stewardship in the years ahead.

I would also like to thank Chris Polson for his vision and dedication that he brought to the Society as Chair of the Board. Chris was responsible for the creation of our new strategic plan that will guide the Society over the next three years. As Chris steps aside into the role of Past Chair, CFA Society Toronto congratulates Anish Chopra on his electoral victory and welcomes him as the incoming Chair. Anish’s renewed focus on member services will strengthen and enhance our members’ career opportunities and developments.

A special thank you goes out to our retiring Board members; Josephine Marks for her leadership as Past Chair, Ron Schwarz for his commitment to Member Communications, Andrew Turnbull, Board Member at Large who established our employer outreach initiative and Mark Tyler for his dedicated efforts as our Secretary Treasurer for the past five years.

To all the brave candidate members who passed the CFA exam in June, I would like to congratulate you on climbing one step up the career ladder and look forward to meeting you at upcoming Society events.

We are kicking off the fall season on 1 October with an entertaining evening planned for our 58th Annual Forecast Dinner. Connect with your fellow industry leaders and capital markets community while enjoying a gourmet dinner. I look forward to seeing many of you there and at other events planned for the balance of the year.
