It is an honour and a privilege to be taking over as executive editor of The Analyst. Irene Goryn has done a tremendous job boosting this publication’s profile and I look forward to building on her legacy. It’s such a tribute to her leadership skills that the Member Communications committee has so many active, long-serving volunteers.

It is particularly exciting to be given this opportunity at such a pivotal period in the investment industry. While markets have staged a remarkable recovery since the collapse of Lehman Brothers just over a year ago, the investment industry is in a time of profound change and where we will be a year from now is almost anyone’s guess.

And so it was with great interest that I read Geneviève Plourde’s write up on our Annual Forecast Dinner “Vision 2010: The Road Ahead”, which featured Dennis Gartman and Gerald Celente as our keynote speakers. Committee member Anne Maggisano continues the forecast theme with another “Great Minds in Finance” story, this time featuring the Bond King himself, Bill Gross of PIMCO.

Then again, perhaps as a sign that the future may not be so different from the past, this September the board of Toronto CFA Society welcomed back former TSFA President Rossa O’Reilly as chair of the Member Communications committee. Rossa is featured in our Charterholder Profile this issue.
