As Chair of the Society, I have the privilege of engaging with our members, and I am continuously inspired by the enthusiasm and dedication that each of you bring to our Society. We are, of course, a not-for-profit professional association, and accordingly, our true bottom line is measured not in dollars, but in impact and engagement—conceptually, our “net promoter score”—as judged by you. With our membership renewal date of June 30 approaching, I invite you to reflect on the enriching experiences and professional growth we’ve shared over the past year.
Our Society is not merely a collection of CFA charterholders, but rather a vibrant community of finance and investment professionals united by a shared commitment to embrace excellence within our profession.
The past year has been filled with meaningful engagements, from the Charter Recognition Dinner, where we warmly welcomed new members, to the Women in Finance Conference, which exemplified our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. We have come together in various forums and formats—including sold-out full- and half-day marquee events like the 18th Annual Pension Conference and the Sustainable Investing Symposium, as well as our impactful seminars like the breakfast with Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Toni Gravelle and our Future of Wealth luncheon—programmed to accommodate members’ busy lives. We also hosted a regulatory update webinar with the Ontario Securities Commission, reasserting our responsibility to foster a trustworthy financial community and extending our impact in important conversations with regulators. Still to come, we are thrilled to bring keynote speaker Hank Paulson, former US Secretary of the Treasury and former Chair and CEO of Goldman Sachs, to our 67th Annual Investment Dinner on September 19, 2024. Be sure to save that date!
These gatherings are vital not only for their content, but equally for the connections they cultivate that often extend beyond typical professional boundaries to offer support, mentorship, and collaboration.
The benefits of your membership are extensive: opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development, peer-to-peer connections, and the chance to be at the forefront of conversations that drive our industry forward.
On behalf of the board, I thank you for your trust, and I encourage each of you to renew your membership and, in so doing, reaffirm your commitment to our mission: to be the leading source of world-class investment professionals.
