AS I WRAP UP MY TERM AS CHAIR of CFA Society Toronto’s Board of Directors, I have fond memories and mixed emotions. It’s been quite the roller coaster, particularly over these past six months. Back in 2015 when I joined the Board, I never envisioned the realities we’d be facing amidst a global pandemic. That being said, the way our membership and volunteers have come together and supported one another has exceeded all expectations.
Maintaining the health and safety of our members, volunteers, event attendees, and staff has remained a high priority at CFA Society Toronto, and we are glad to say we have been able to maintain this priority without sacrificing the quality of the programming and service offerings we provide to our membership.
Between all the Zoom meetings and working from home, our dedicated volunteers, Board of Directors, and staff have managed to meet their commitments to the Society with aplomb. Our volunteers and Board have created virtual programming to allow us to continue to meet membership needs, and CFA Toronto members have successfully maintained their commitment to learning in the face of radically changed circumstances. These are only some of the many ways our membership has been able to adapt and come up with direct solutions to address the sudden adversities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, we have continued our outreach efforts during this time to ensure CFA Society Toronto maintains a positive thought leadership role within our local finance community.
With a focus on remaining connected—albeit virtually, for now—we have provided up-to-date content to meet the current needs of CFA charterholders. CFA Society Toronto has successfully repackaged our programming from in-person content to webinars and has successfully launched The Analyst Online. In the coming months, we will continue to innovate so that we ensure your needs are met.
Finally, I would like to extend a special thank you to Steven Balaban, Pamela Steer, Camilla Sutton, and Christopher Sheridan, as they complete their term serving on CFA Society Toronto’s Board of Directors. Stay tuned for updates as we will be announcing our 2020–2021 CFA Society Toronto Board of Directors this coming November.
I am incredibly proud of the work we have completed at CFA Society Toronto during my term, and particularly of the leadership shown in the face of recent challenges. I would like to thank everyone who provided their support and wisdom, and pushed us towards better serving Toronto’s investment community.
