I’M HONOURED to serve as CFA Society Toronto’s 2017/18 Chair of the Board. As Canada’s largest society of CFA charterholders—and the world’s third largest after New York and the U.K.—CFA Society Toronto is in a unique position to positively influence the investment industry both locally and abroad. It’s our social responsibility, as a collective body of investment practitioners, to continue to dedicate ourselves to building a stronger investment profession that benefits the broader community. We’ll continue our outreach and advocacy efforts to further promote our members—and the CFA designation they bear—as champions of high ethical principles and professional standards.
We’ll continue to enhance the standards of the programming and the continuing education (CE) opportunities we offer. We’re committed to creating engaging and relevant content that’s up to date with industry mega-trends, which include aging demographics, tech-empowered individuals and organizations, economic imbalances, government footprints, and resource management. With the new structure of our programming committee, we’ll be able to better understand and develop content to address these changes in our industry while catering to the specific needs of your job function, career path, and asset class.
In this quarter, along with CE programming, we’re looking forward to hosting a number of events—most notably, Alpha and Gender Diversity on Sept. 18; the Annual Institutional Investment Practitioners’ Forum on Sept. 28; and our flagship event, the Annual Investment Dinner, on Nov. 15. Find out about these events and more at cfatoronto.ca/events.
But programming, CE, and the other services we offer wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of dedicated volunteers. I’d like to thank, recognize, and congratulate our volunteer MVPs for fiscal year 2016/17.
Thank you not only to these volunteers but also to each and every one who is involved with CFA Society Toronto. I look forward to conveying how we will continue to deliver value to you, and enhance public trust of those with the CFA credential, over the coming year.
