ON BEHALF OF CFA SOCIETY TORONTO and its board of directors, I’m excited to share our new Vision and Mission statements. Since our founding in 1936, our core purpose as a not-for-profit organization has evolved and expanded significantly. For more than 80 years, we’ve provided Society members with high-calibre professional and career development opportunities, increased the financial industry’s awareness of the values embodied in the CFA designation, and fostered a socially responsible community through the promotion of professional and ethical integrity.

To keep up with the changing times, we’ve recently examined the words we were using to describe our purpose and to ensure the Society’s relevance in today’s financial industry. As a result, we’ve created new Vision and Mission statements that we believe more accurately reflect what we do and why.

The Society also recognizes that the needs and requirements of our members are evolving at an accelerated pace, and that it must respond to the demands of our industry. This is why, earlier this year, the Society’s board of directors conducted a member survey to gain greater insight into what challenges you’re facing and how CFA Society Toronto can best cater to your needs. We’re currently in the process of reviewing your responses, and will be sharing the results and our findings in the near future.

Finally, as my tenure as chair comes to an end, I’d like to thank fellow board members, Society volunteers, and staff who have collectively provided so many hours of their time toward making CFA Society Toronto an organization of which we can all be proud. I’d also like to thank you, our members, for supporting CFA Society Toronto in our efforts to building a strong and vibrant financial industry.
