WELCOME TO THE FIRST 2018 ISSUE OF THE ANALYST! It brings me great excitement to announce three brand-building initiatives CFA Society Toronto has been working on to add more value to the CFA designation.
GLOBAL BRAND CAMPAIGN
The Society, in partnership with CFA Institute, started the new year with the launch of Let’s Measure Up, our new global brand campaign. The campaign objective is to elevate the CFA designation and CFA Society Toronto members by promoting a positive image of the designation aimed toward high-net-worth individuals and employers. The initiative includes efforts towards establishing the CFA designation as the financial community’s highest standards for ethics, education, and professional excellence. To maximize our impact, this multi-channel campaign will include relevant placements on print, digital, and paid social media. Click on the banner below to learn more.
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
March 8 marks International Women’s Day and, in this issue, we also celebrate gender diversity in the investment profession. Our writers are broadening the definition of diversity and inclusion to include the full range of human differences, including (but not limited to) race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and national origin. (“A Whole New World,” page 14, looks at how diversity and inclusion have shaped CFA Society Toronto. We also report on last year’s Alpha and Gender Diversity conference, page 12.) At this year’s Annual Pension Conference, one of our featured speakers, Diana Van Maasdijk, co-founder and executive director of Equileap, will address why and how diversity matters to investment results. Also, stay tuned on cfatoronto.ca/events for a Diversity & Inclusion event in the coming quarter.
PUTTING INVESTORS FIRST
Finally, this year’s Putting Investors First initiative will take place from April to May. Putting Investors First is part of the CFA Institute’s Future of Finance, which is about taking a leadership role—both as individual members and as a collective global organization of 140,000—in shaping a trustworthy, forward-thinking investment profession that better serves society. As charterholders, we’re always united by two main beliefs: financial market practices should be fair and financial service providers should put investors’ interests first.
Finally, it’s important to us that CFA Society Toronto continues to meet your needs. With that in mind, I urge you to continue your commitment to professional development and education by participating in some of our upcoming events—and provide us with your feedback.
As always, I’d like to hear from you directly with any comments or concerns. You can reach me on Twitter @Pamela_Steer or by email at PamelaSteer@hotmail.com.
